10 imp Vocabularies for the day- SATprep


"10 VOCAB FOT THE DAY"

1. Abide- Tolerate
-The one thing my parents cannot abide is blatant disobedience. 
-If you abide by the guidelines, you are sure to succeed with the project.
2. Ephemeral- Fulgacious
-The civic reaction was an example of the ephemeral nature of the public's interest.
-Concentrate on remembering the ephemeral moments which will be the most precious 20 years from now.
3. Reverie- Daydream
-Her reverie passed quickly and she seemed embarrassed by it.
-The boy, curly- headed like his mother and glowing with health, sat on his knee, and Prince Andrew began telling him the story of Bluebeard, but fell into a reverie without finishing the story.
4.Exuberant- Excited
-His poems, novels and comedies are full of wit and exuberant vitality.
-A rich and exuberant growth of the plants is a first essential of successful tea cultivation.
5. Quiescent- Dormant/Inactive
-It has been quiescent since 1566, and is now completely extinct.
6. Flamboyant- Vibrant
-The red flowers in her hair were too flamboyant for her elegant
7.Pernicious- Harmful
-In the war on terrorism and the role on HIV, the UN's role is equally pernicious.
8. Hackneyed- Unoriginal/ Overused
-This is a real shame as the role does have potential to really deliver a great performance, despite the rather hackneyed script.
9. Precocious- Matured/ Talented
-Girolamo was a precocious child, with an early passion for learning.
10. Huaghty- Arrogant/vain
-He was the product of haughty broadsheets and fawning society magazines.
